A Beginner’s Guide to Bobst Library

Welcome back to NYU!  MSSO wishes everyone a great semester filled with internships, provoking discussions, and lots and lots of research.  To help you out, we’ve compiled some advice for the latter.  Happy studying, and good luck to all second-year students as they near thesis completion!

WHERE TO STUDY

We’re big fans of Bobst’s collaborative study spaces.  These rooms typically hold 6-12 people, and a great deal of them are specially reserved for graduate students.  Reserve a room for up to three hours here: http://library.nyu.edu/services/group_study.html.  You can also reserve individual study rooms.  Or check out the huge reading rooms on the north end of each even floor.  These feature tall ceilings, lots of natural light, and a great view of Washington Square Park.

WHO TO ASK FOR HELP

Have you met Tom McNulty?  He’s the Museum Studies Subject Librarian, and he’s here to help you!  He’s an expert on finding resources, navigating databases, and taking advantage of everything Bobst Library has to offer.  You can contact him at tom.mcnulty@nyu.edu.  Visit http://library.nyu.edu/research/ for more information on library resources.

WHERE TO KEEP YOUR BOOKS

Tired of dragging your book bag to the library from your apartment on the other end of the island (and back)?  Rent a locker for the entire semester for just $25.00.  Get more information here: http://library.nyu.edu/about/policies/lockers.html.
